In the 1940s, Levis Johnson sold geologist Pat Marshall a boulder for £50, which today would be around $4500, leaving Johnson 'feeling like a millionaire'!

Auckland Museum ended up with a slice of the boulder, an orbicular granite. This one is special because of its large and clearly defined orbicules - onion-like, concentric layers of rock and mineral.
